My tradescantia zebrina is growing so much! It grew by over 40cm in about two months. See the before & after pics below. Is that normal? I added some bamboo sticks for support and have it by a window where it gets lots of sun. Leaves are looking great too! I'm not complaining, just curious :)

Nice!! Is what normal, the chopsticks? These plants trail downward so they don't need chopsticks.

I think I added them about halfway into this growth spurt when they were already growing upwards, thinking they needed more support. There's a few stems that don't seem to need any support and they're still growing upwards. They must just be growing towards the sunshine, which we've had plenty if here in London lately.

I have a tradescantia and she grows like crazy, I have to give her a hair cut I would say every few months

Oh London huh? I've heard you have alot of rain so how nice to have sunshine. I live in the rocky mountains of Utah in the US where it is very dry. Haven't had rain all summer!!

I have one of these and it's grown RAPID- i've had to repot it twice in the last couple months, i have just had to cut it back and get some clippings, hopefully they sprout!

It must be the right amount of sun. I also use this seaweed based plant food on all my plants (maybe a little too much). Or just beginner's luck ;)

Probably the plant food! I’ve got a bunch of these guys in all sorts of light conditions. They are very forgiving with how much light they get. Could also be a water problem, but if it looks healthy I bet it’s the food!

Definitely normal! Tradescantias are my favorite plants, been keeping them for years. They can be a bit temperamental, but they grow insanely fast. Fair warning for all the people new to them, they also drop leaves quickly, and leaves don’t age well, so when they take off growing I highly recommend cutting and propping. They prop super easily. Once they have some roots just shove it back in the original pot and it’ll look much fuller! They can get a little leggy looking pretty quickly.
