almost all stephania erecta are poached from their native habitat in thailand, due to the difficulty of growing them in greenhouses. i really wouldn’t recommend purchasing them or promoting keeping them as it’s encouraging further environmental destruction.
1 j'aimeI’m new to plants, somewhat. I just saw pretty they get pretty, and purchased. Not familiar with where they all come my plants originate from. Also not promoting anything, simply show and tell. I was asked the kind so I gave the kind. I don’t believe that is promoting . Thanks for your information nonetheless the less.

this screenshot from an article about stephania erecta on plantcircle dot co explains things better. it may not be technically illegal but sellers and purchasers of this species should be aware of the unethical nature of its harvest. i believe houseplant keepers in general should be making more of an effort to learn where our plants come from. an unfortunate amount of “rare” plants are poached. i hope this information helps you and others understand the weight of our purchases.
1 j'aimeWould a good alternative to Stephania would be the Chinese money plant? 🤷♀️ It is pretty common around the world making it less valuable to poachers. Although, it is endangered in its natural habitat (china).
