   I’ve had mine for a few years and it hasn’t spread any new leaves

     you probably got one without a node. big box sellers of kerrii often give you a "zombie leaf", a leaf that has grown roots but has no growth point and won't ever give you more leaves. zombie leaves can survive for years before dying. check the roots and see if you can find a node. if not, you got unlucky
