    Why’s my African violet look so much different? Is there different species of these? Or do they just darken out to being this purplish color as they mature? I’ve had mine for around a month or so and it definitely had awful root rot when we bought it but now it’s got leaves almost the size of my big pothos

      I could be wrong, but yours looks more like a kind of Flame Violet than an African Violet. They’re close relatives; Flame Violets usually have larger, more elongated leaves, and a trailing growth habit 🌿🤗

      I don’t doubt it at all, stores sell things as one thing when it’s really something else. It didn’t have an actual species name attached at the store and just said African violet 8”hanging. I’ll look into this when I get home
