Is this a flower spike on my maranta? I’ve had this baby for 2 years and we StRuGgLeD for a loooong time. šŸ˜®ā€šŸ’Ø I think I’ve finally got it happy but suddenly it has this weird spike that looks unlike its normal growth pattern. šŸ¤” If it is a flower, should I cut it to conserve energy for the leaves? I just don’t want him to go downhill after it’s taken me so long to get stuff right. He still doesn’t have a hugely robust root system

yay!! it’s flowering!! that happens in spring when the plant is happy and healthy (: there is no need to cut its flower off!! i only ever remove flowers after they die. enjoy the plant showing off its happiness!

agree!! best to not change a plant’s state while flowering (bc it’s so happy), unless the health of the plant depends on it!

I trim my flowers regularly solely for aesthetic reasons, so no worries if you decide to trim them. Knowing that you’ve had this little guy for over a year and observing his pot, I’d consider repotting him this spring season. I’ve had mine for two years and it’s now in a 10ā€ pot.

I missed pictures of the top 2 flowers. They’re so teeny and precious! I love them! šŸ˜ Thanks for your time and comments plant friends!
