I’m almost finished with Operation Get Big and/or Sick Plants… | Show your plants | Planta-community

I’m almost finished with Operation Get Big and/or Sick Plants Outside. “Sick” means I’m sick of trying to solve pest issues and want to give nature a shot. More images in the comments, as I need to show the bedroom window :) Note also that my cactus collection has dwindled, a lot, in favor of Euphorbia. I mean, I still have like 20 Opuntia, but round ones with wool and a million bug apartment crevices. The soft succulents also get pests, but cleaning their bods is around 87% easier.

Thank you. I’m starting to get more excited about it again as I’m cleaning, occasionally purging and switching out topsoil. Little stuff like this bloom keeps me going back haha.

Oh my gosh, I've never seen a paw plant that big before, or blooming

ps Your carnivorous collection is enviable. I recently retrieved a bunch of stuff from my old shed, including some huge glass containers. This used to be filled with some misc sucs (I didn’t know about drainage back then) and a Star Aloe that took over. I have bog dreams.

I believe I smushed two (Home Depot) plants in there, but yeah. Pretty big. The tips of some leaves were getting munched on, so I banished it to a window sill for the winter.

Hahaha i actually have a few sucs in no drainage pots, i think its just finding a happy medium with watering sometimes and the right sucs or cactus. Thank you. That will be an awesome bog!!!

Your family looks bigger to me. Maybe the individuals got larger. 🤣 I’m still living vicariously through your spiked plants. I gave away a rather large euphorbia what son was a toddler many many years ago. That was my last successful thorny plant. 🪴

Hmm. I think I staged things and added some bigger pots ha. I'm really trying to get rid of the ones that are anemic due to non-reversable experiments. Ps I aw this yesterday - actually, I saw two of them. It's too big, but it would be both amazing and a decent investment, as another local shop sells them for $150.

I haven’t seen the variegated. It’s cool! I’ve seen the euphorbia ghost on Etsy. I’m just look and keep scrolling. They are all expensive. This one above is cheap.

Here's one I don't mention. Those spots started red, and I thought it might be red wool (these get a crazy mullet). There spots turned solid black, so I sprayed it with copper fungicide. Next steps is probably the trash.

Oh no! I haven't seen that on a cactus, starting out red. It does look like fungus infection though with the yellow halos

Is it into the very top? Maybe you can prop it and disinfect it

The black happened so quickly that I’ve not had many expectations. Here’s an example of the mullet lol.
