Am I the only one who’s been told… “You’re such a pack rat. Just get rid of it!” From nipple lamps to ceiling fans, I’ve had to replace a few in 16 yrs in a home. The mechanics of those items was recycled with other electronics, never trash, and the glass bowls, well they stayed with me. Those glass bowls would appear whenever I needed to put out pretzels or chips (with appropriate napkins lining the the bowls) for others to nosh on, As I got older less and less people came around, and with the time of downsizing knocking at my door, I began to discard these glass bowl, former electrical, items. One day I saw many tiny succulents withering away in my residence and thought “What should I do? Chuck them or go through the process of finding pots, etc.? And then I remembered Planta always asks pot type. Glass is NOT a No No for plants. Glass can be used but it must contain drainage holes, draining soil needs to be used, and much less watering need to occur. Well these glass bowls: - have a large hole in the bottom - are shaped such that when watered all excess water will run to that hole - are typically shallow for succulents - and look good too So if you’ve been told you’re a pack rat for saving pieces of stuff like these glass bowls, well then tell them to sit on a prickly pear pad.

Thanks! And I’ll be honest, some of them are still on life support, while others, like the Prickly Pear varieties are flourishing. Even those that have died, well when they died and dropped their leaves, those dropped leaves are all budding to find life.

Oh and the hole at the bottom is covered with a small sink strainer with holes surrounded with a mix of stones and charcoal. All Dan can sit on any type of saucer.

Omg. I have done this in the past. I have two of those fan shades sitting in my craft room ready to use again. They are perfect for succulents.
