i got this plant back in august and it hasn’t grown a new leaf this whole time. i read while i was researching that it was slow growing but i didn’t realize it would be so slow haha. i realized the soil i had it in wasn’t as draining as it needed to be so i repotted it and the leaf started growing quickly & now it’s popping out! i’m quite sad to see the black. but extremely encouraged that she’s growing! hopefully the next leaf is complete.

Yep, I get some black-tipped new leaves from my philodendrons and monstera when they’re trying to tell me something is wrong. It’s good that you upgraded the soil! Mine would rather dry almost completely for a day than sit in dense, moist soil. Increasing lighting (gradually) and fertilizing regularly will help it grow faster too. Although it may spend a bit more time working on roots first if they haven’t filled the pot yet. Happy growing! Yours has lovely variegation ☺️

yes! as i was moving, i just used the soil i had rather than mix the correct soil. so silly of me. yes i always let her dry out for sure! (: she’s under a grow light and is getting regular fertilizer. & she’s definitely spent most of her life with me working on roots. which i knew would happen, i put her in a bigger pot a little early with that in mind. it was nice seeing all the new roots when i repotted her((: same to you!! plants are the best. ah thank you so much 🥰
