RobI have trouble with these in the winter as well. How old was it? I’ve never had one live more than 2 years, but when it starts to go, I am able to propagate it. Take a living node and put it in a clear glass jar with water. Keep the water clean and place the plant in a bright area, it should sprout roots by spring and you can pot it in May/June.

I tried to do it when I cut it but unfortunately that was broken by Christmas break away from home and this is what has been left

Do you think I can propagate using the long branch with nodes shown in the picture, even though there are not too many leaves left?

Yes, as long as the branch is green and has a node you should be good, give it a solid three months in water and it should grow a healthy root system

Yes the branch is still green and has a lot of nodes
