That cage is blocking valuable light. This plant thrives in full sun. It needs full sun to get the darkest colors. I would propagate it to fill out the pot. A fuller plant will stand vertically from the support of the stem and leaves at the lower levels. So, you wonât need a trellis unless thatâs the look you are going for. It propagate easily in soil. Cut it into pieces with one or two nodes in the soil. Poke a hole with a pencil or chopstick. Remove all leaves going under the soil to prevent rot. Dip in rooting hormone powder. Place in the hole and water. Water when almost dry. Watering will eventually fill the holes with soil. Picture shows a plant in a 4 inch or made from broken pieces from the mother plant.

It took over nearby pots when winter freeze killed the nearby plants. Itâs in full sun most of the day. People and dogs trample the edges since itâs almost touching the pool. Itâs very resilient. It likes to dry completely between watering. I donât water it in fall and winter. It lives off rain and has fine hairs that collect water vapor.

Omg itâs huge !!!
1 likeItâs taken on a life of its own. Five days of a hard freeze didnât kill it last winter. It just made it go harder. đ
