if you do get a cat you need to be very careful. they eat whatever they want sometimes and think it’s funny. my friend lost her sweet cat georgie because he ate a plant when she wasn’t home. i don’t know what could’ve been done to prevent it. my dog seems to know better but cats climb and explore more.

Hi! I have three cats and 100+ houseplants. It is absolutely doable, you just need to be a bit more mindful of where you place which plants, and make sure that if you get a kitten or high-energy cat, you’re playing with her enough so that she doesn’t get bored and start terrorizing your foliage. If she does go chomping on some leaves, two things to remember: 1. There are TONS of gorgeous, non-toxic plants like ferns, calatheas, peperomias, echeverias, most palms, etc. 2. If pets do manage to munch on a bit of your philodendrons, for example, it’s usually not a huge problem because most houseplants that are “toxic” aren’t actually poisonous, they just have varying levels of calcium oxalate which is an irritant. ****Only truly poisonous plants like anthuriums and peace lilies are non-negotiable no-no’s.**** My cats have taken bites out of my monstera, ZZ, yucca, snake plant, etc. and they’re still happy, unrepentant-but-cute little jerks!

It depends so much on the personality of a cat… I have 2 cats and more than 150 plants…. Lots are toxic. Mostly cats ignore them but sometimes they get in chewing mood. I don’t like bitten plants so I immediately put it out of reach and they forget about it…
