I just got me a Fiddle Fig plant. I’m a little nervous, because I’m hearing how it’s a hard plant to keep and how toxic it can be. But it’s beautiful to me.

Carful though, being right next to a heat source can be quite detrimental!

Thank you, I was wondering about that. I shall move it.
0件のいいねIt is a very finicky plant, but I have to say that even when I knew nothing about taking care of it, it still lived. Looking back now, I completely mistreated this plant and it still lives and is now one of my oldest plants. It never thrived, and it dropped leaves as often as it grew them, but it still had leaves 😂. So while it can be challenging to make it thrive, it may not be hard to keep alive. I would suggest that you find a good spot for it with some nice bright, indirect light, away from any heat or AC, away from any possible drafts, and don’t ever move it from there. 😂

Great advice!! Thank you!
いいね 1件Also, just a note on the toxicity. Long story short - I found out earlier this year that I’m sensitive to the sap on figs, including FLF. I did some research into it at the time and found out that it’s actually recommended to keep them in larger open areas of your house so it doesn’t affect your air quality. I used to keep mine in my bedroom, but moved it out to my kitchen/dining area and have had no problems since. It also doesn’t hurt to wash your hands after touching the leaves, or wear gardening or rubber gloves if you’re going to be “working” on it (repotting, etc.) to avoid any contact to your skin, in case that might be an issue.

I have it in my living room. Hopefully it’s okay. I don’t get a lot of light coming in. In April I might keep it outside for a bit.
