Carrie

This is my striped dracaena. I’ve had it for at least 5 years, probably twice that long. She is my problem plant, I have never been able to make her thrive! Sits in a South facing basement window about 2 feet away, under a grow light since October. I follow Planta watering and fertilizing schedule. Any advice would be truly appreciated and show me a picture of yours!

i would maybe wait until spring to take it out of the pot and check the roots. i would maybe move it to a smaller pot (all in the spring) so it can focus on new growth rather than more time solidifying the root system. another option is to chop (where the red lines are) it and propagate both stems since there aren’t leaves on them. then there is potential for new growth for the stem that is left in the soil, and for the two new stems that you propagate. i would probably do both honestly, that’s just me though. you could also just leave it under the grow light if you like the stem! i think that may do it very well, the consistent light. & make sure you’re not overwatering too! if you can check the soil at the bottom of the pot, since that’s where the moisture retains. you do whatever you feel most comfortable with!! i hope your baby recovers!!

Good advice, I’ll wait until spring and try some cuts and smaller pot. I hate to give up on a plant when I can see life there.

it looks overwatered to me. i would repot asap in a well-draining mix in a much smaller pot, 1” bigger than the rootball. trim any mushy or shriveled dead roots. i’d recommend not following the planta schedule in future and using the app as a reminder to check your plants before watering them. dracaena prefer all their soil to be completely dry before watering again

Thank you, actually I had just watered it before I took the picture and it was completely dry before I watered. I do agree that i need to downsize my pot😊
