Rescued today from the trash where I park for work. Will she make it? I’ve never had a string of pearls before. The roots looked completely dried up and dead when I planted her in this fresh soil mixture but she’s still green… 🤔 💚 Any tips welcome!

THE most important part with string of pearls is to make sure the head/top of the plant gets plenty of direct light. Plenty! Often times, people will place this on a shelf where the strands can dangle and get sun but then the plant dies because the crown isn’t getting all the sun it needs. Water when the soil is completely dry. And when you water, water thoroughly letting it drain out of the drainage holes. That’s it! Enjoy.

oh and I would curl those stems (most, maybe not all) onto the soil so they can root and make a fuller plant. you can gently use bobby pins to secure them down to the top of the soil.

I've always been worried about using Bobby pins as they are metal and might leak stuff into the soil?
