Hey all! I just got this beautiful Alocasia frydek and am wondering if anybody has any tips? Iâve always had a little trouble with Alocasias and would hate for this guy to die!

Iâm commenting so I can get notified too if anyone comments tips lol. I just ordered a corm because I didnât trust myself enough to buy and adult plant đ The corm might be more of a gamble though despite the lower price. Fingers crossed for both of us đ€

I donât have this exact Alocasia but for the ones I do have I give them lot of bright light, bottoms water, a pebble tray for humidity and I never really let the soil completely dry out

Beautiful find. I wish you luck - these plants put out corms beneath the top soil so keep a lookout for those if youâre looking to multiply/propagate. We started with one âmotherâ Frydeck and now have almost 10/12 plants from propagating corms and division. Although ours isnât variegated, Iâd assume care is the similar - except yours probably needs more light. In general, I prefer not to let it dry out completely, give it plenty of indirect sunlight, and mist often because they are spider mite magnets, haha. They are fairly easy to care for, atleast in our experience. Be mindful that âyoungerâ Alocasias tend to direct nutrients towards growth points (new leaves), leading to older leaves dying off occasionally.

Usually isnât an issue but Iâd double check for variegated Alocasias just to be sure.
