what was your first plant? do you still have it? if not, what happened to it? my first was this maidenhair fern, in 2017. she was thriving! until she was murdered about 6 months later 🥲 (felon pictured)

My first plant that i picked out from a store and purposely bought for myself (not including family’s plants in childhood) was a Parlor Palm. That was over 20 years ago. I still have it (pictured). It had a few years of being put in direct sun (before i knew better) and most of its fronds were bleached or burnt. It has completely regrown and replaced (by me pruning away) its fronds.

gorgeous parlor palm! i've been thinking about getting one for the space between my two east windows (indirect/slightly partial sun)

i’ve been keeping houseplants or at least helping my parents grow theirs my whole life. the first one that was actually mine was a holiday cactus (schlumbergera) that i got as a few clippings in 2013. my rabbit ate it right down to the base in 2021, so that was the end of that. good news is that it seemed like any other snack to her, i guess schlumbergera are nontoxic lol
3 likesstevie is my current oldest plant, and the one that reignited my interest. i received her randomly as a gift from my landlord for earth day in 2020 and still not 100% sure what she is. i realized tho that neither one of my cats had any interest in succulents - so that's what i stuck with pretty much!
