Ok I apologize in advance, but I could use a plant ID. This plant comes up all over the place in my yard. It grows quite tall (a few feet if I let it). I don’t recall ever seeing it produce berries or flower. Seems to be some kind of bush. Do I leave it or weed it?

    Looks like an azalea bush.

Oh ok! Let’s hope it’s that, since that would be nice to have! 😄

I’m not 100 percent sure. Azaleas usually don’t die off and come back. They stay evergreen and bloom in early spring.

I’ll keep an eye on it to see what it does…

Definitely looks like azalea. If you haven’t seen any blooms yet, it could be that you’re accidentally pruning newly set buds, or these are just not planted in optimal conditions/area. Azaleas like a little bit of morning sun, and mostly shade the rest of the day. They are acid lovers, and you can either sprinkle used coffee grounds or tea leaves around the base, or get a specific acidic fertilizer from any big box store or garden center. They also really love dried leaf mulch.

Thank you for all the tips! Now that I know what they are I can take better care of them. 😊
