I spent at least 2 hours sweating my way through the entire nursery looking for 50% off plants to add to my little collection of plant babies and left happy. The dwarf banana tree, alocasia, and cactus were picked up at Trader Joe’s.

Home Depot & Lowe’s in my area just started some 50% off sales this week! I was able to snag a healthy ficus teneke standing just over 2ft for $15.

That cactus is the cutest thing ever 🥹, and I love how the pot echoes its shape

Thanks. It fits my aesthetic. Cactus training wheels. No spines. 😊

LOL! It might call plant protective services on me and end up at your house in foster care. It’s a diva. I can grow the heck out of veggies, but houseplants are new territory.

I can only advise you to stay strong. Alocasia will HUMBLE YOU. Each time you water her, check the leaves for pests (specifically spider mites). Wipe her down every other month or so with some plant cleaner (neem oil or insecticidal soap). Never let her dry out. I water when mine are about 50% dry. Know that if you move her, she will strip nekkid and make you start over, so I suggest slowly acclimating to different conditions. 🖤

The humbling process started within the first few days. It was a Trader Joe’s plant so it was “root gagged”—not bound. Repotted with loving care in my fave combo and have been giving humidifier spa treatments. Down two leaves, but that is why I had to start investigating what the heck was going on. I’ll make sure to watch for hitchhikers. I give all new plants a bath like they worked in the plutonium plant with Cher from the movie “Silkwood”, but I’ll be extra vigilant.
