Appreciation post for my OG, everyone warned me not to be mad when she curled up and died because Calatheas are notoriously hard but here she is, going strong. I still half expect her to die every other week but she only puts out new leaves and they keep getting bigger. 🙏
Mine looked very sad in the beginning and then all of a sudden put out 9 new leaves and has been non stop ever since.

Thanks for the update. I've been worried about you. 😉 Maybe all our complaining is just because we can't do what you do (grow calatheas). I'm sure there are people here who grow them like it's no big deal. Maybe you'll be one of them? I for sure will remain president of the dead calathea society. ❤️

Yeah i feel sometimes you have to let the calathea almost die back completely before it will spring back better and stronger. And finally learning to correct combo of substrate, watering etc etc. Going through that with a few of mine that are starting to sprout now leaves after being basically dormant. They should rename Calatheas to Resurrecting Jesus plants or something. 😝
