I am so amazed by your Alocasias! Every leaf is pristine ๐Ÿคฏ do you have any pro tips?

Thank you, Anya ๐Ÿ’š I find that Alocasia really reaaally want consistency. Consistency in their watering schedule, environment, and just overall conditions. I make sure I water before they dry out - they like to remain moist but they also donโ€™t like to be overly wet for too long (as we know, can lead to root rot) which is why a chunky aroid mix is ideal. When I first got Frida (thatโ€™s my Frydekโ€™s name ๐Ÿ˜Š), I put her right on my East window so she got very intense morning light. Her leaves started to bleach so I put her on another section of the window that wasnโ€™t getting too intense of light and she loved it. I do find they like bright light but maybe not too direct. For a moment, before she was as huge as she is now, I had her in my cabinet which stays at about 80% humidity and she flowered and gave me some huge leaves which means she was happy ๐Ÿฅฐ But she shortly outgrew the cabinet so she had to come out. My apartment stays at about 60% humidity which is still pretty ideal so I find she is still thriving under those conditions BUT I know she would appreciate more humidity (bigger leaves). Other than that, I also make sure to fertilize with every watering and do a pest check often with a dusting + spray down session at the beginning of every month ๐Ÿค—

Oh and another important thing is that Alocasia really like to be snug in their pots. I actually find that they hold on to more leaves when they are kept that way (snug). So I try not to repot unless absolutely necessary which is usually whenever roots start to come out of the drainage holes or if they start to dry out a lot quicker when it is not due to temperature changes. When I do repot, I try to only go 1-2 sizes up to reduce the shock and I also donโ€™t mess with the root ball if I can avoid it. They really donโ€™t like to have their roots messed with.
