Added new plant today, Crocodile Fernā Microsorium musifoliumā. Purchased from Giantsā food store, checked rootball had the death whatever around it. Tore away as much as I could. Rootball dry, repotted in 6ā plastic pot watered and cleaned.
Itās beautiful! But what is this death thingy? Iāve read about it twice now and I think that my lemon button fern might have it. I thought it was just incredibly root bound, but I canāt break it up.

1 Like I used my bonsai rake and was able to get a tiny bit of the outer part off, but the rest is so dense, I canāt get through it. š¢
