SharonWThey are paper. The stores glue Fake flowers on to make them attractive to shoppers when they are not in bloom. You can and should pull them off for the health of the plant.

Oh okay I’ve never had these kinds before so I wasn’t sure and when I looked them up they had flowers on them. Thank you for the info

ProfessorSproutYep, fake flowers. But they can flower naturally too. I think you need to repot your cacti. The pots are too big and they need more drainage. I pot mine in pumice mixed with a bit of potting soil. But mostly pumice. Looks like they’re growing in pure gravel. You’ll end up with root rot with too big pots and too dense soil.

Only have 8 ounce jars smaller than these like the moon cactus is in and they have no drainage in the jars

Even though the tan one has drainage holes and a spout coming from underneath and the other one has a up raised plastic liner that the plant is in and then in the pot. That’s still not enough drainage?

MattCTIf you’re super careful about watering, and only watering when the soil is completely dry, you should be able to get away just fine with the way they are now.
