Can anyone give me some tips on what I should do with this Alocasia? Should I trim off the mature leaves? Repot it? It faces an NW window and I only water it once the soil is 50% dry. I fear this may by blight related but not too sure ..

Hello! I had the same problem with mine a couple months back and I had spider mites. They LOVE Alocasias. After I got that taken care of I noticed it was still doing what your plant is doing and I read that they love humidity once I put it close to my humidifier it began to perk up. If you don’t have a humidifier you could definitely due humidity trays or frequent misting. As far as the roots go are they poking out of the bottom of the pot or maybe turning to mush? Alocasias can be finicky in my personal experience hang in there!

Thank you for that! I do have it near a running humidifier but my humidity goes up to 50-60%. And it’s near multiple plants. I do have a greenhouse cabinet coming in the end of next month and plan to stick it in there to get more humidity. But I’m a definitely spray it for bugs! Did you have to repot the plant with the spider mites?

Perfect. I did just because I was worried about it, but I ended up putting it in a smaller pot because the roots were not as prominent as I thought they would be (it came from Lowe’s)

0 Me gustaLooks like overwatering based on the yellowing softening leaves, even on the new growth, and the signs of edema on the bent over leaf. Edema is the inability of the plants to use all the water coming from the roots. Edema in can look like water blisters and also look like translucent/dark patches on the leaves of alocasias. See the front face of your bent over leaf. I recommend changing out the wet soil. Check for root rot and remove. Let the soil dry out more between watering. Raise the little black pot higher in the large white pot to get proper air circulation around the soil. This will help the soil dry out faster. Too high humidity levels can prevent the leaves from removing excess water leading to edema and guttation (water dripping from leaves). You may have to reduce the humidity levels if my above recommendations are insufficient. Ensure the plant gets sufficient lighting which helps the plant use more water. Good luck 🍀 🪴
