    How would a novice propagate?

i’m still very new!! i got this plant with an already developed root system when i repotted my string of turtles, then just kept it in a jar of water for a little over a month. i’ve been doing lots of research on tiktok and other blogging sites about nodes and water changes, but honestly i’d just google a beginners guide to propagating!

Based on what plants you have, most will be easiest to propagate by seed or by dividing once they get big enough. For those with woody stems, you'd do cuttings as you would for trees (some species you can just stick a cutting in soil, others need rooting hormone, more challenging species need lots of extra precautions against rotting. You can also propagate in water or perlite instead of soil.) Herbaceous (soft-stem) plants tend to do best as water propagation cuttings. Plants that have rhizomes or corns (different root structures) tend to be easiest to propagate by dividing when they get large

Also sone species that are really easy to prop that'll be a good experience for rookies include: pothos, tradescantia, ficus benjamina, african violet (all by cuttings), any kind of domesticated food plant (seed or cuttings), and iris and alocasia (rhizome and corm division)
