My rubber tree is looking very healthy and is shooting out all kinds of new leaves, but she’s tall and skinny. I was just reading about how to get her to bush out and it says to cut the top off…. This gives me anxiety! Has anyone done this? What was your experience? Judging by how tall she is I feel I would need to cut her back further than just a bit off the top but … 😩 What do you think?? Should I ✂️, or let her be? (She is at least 1-2 leaves taller than in this photo now)

It will definitely fill out if you chop it! It’s always hard to do 😅

Do it! Tineke get really top heavy if you just let it grow as just one stalk, so you definitely want to encourage some branching. I just chopped 2 of mine. It should start branching close to where you make your cut, so just depends how long of a “trunk” you want. And you can propagate what you chop off… Free plants! lol

just so you know, it’s not guaranteed your plant will fill out if you chop it. it may continue growing only one branch, just from the side. if this happens, you could however pot the cutting with the original plant. if your ficus is getting really good light (8+ hours of direct light) it’s more likely it will produce multiple branches after a “haircut”

Do it do it do it. I notched my tineke two or three weeks ago and already have so much new growth!
