My staghorn fern’s shield fronds have turned dark and there are new ones growing underneath. I’m pretty new to these and I assume that’s a good thing? Should I just leave it alone and let it do its thing? It seems fairly happy, doesn’t it?

I have a crispy wave fern that seems pretty healthy. I have had it since June. I have tried to be very careful about the watering schedule and sunlight levels. It gets filtered water via bottom watering. The one thing I’ve noticed is that the rosette hasn’t produced new leaves since I purchased it. It looks like there are two leaves in process, but they have been like that since I got it. (He little bits of white powder are diatomaceous earth) Any recommendations? Is that how it should be? Maybe more sunlight?

I got this fern for free at a plant shop because kids could pick out a free plant. I love it but it’s soil almost never dries out. It also hasn’t grown as much recently.

I would like to introduce everyone to Freddy my baby maidenhair. What makes him really special is that I got him at my hometown nursery! He’s my first fern too. I’m excited to watch him grow!

I had several mini maiden and lemon button ferns that I got at a local nursery. Today I was examining them and they all had a dash plug so I decided to repot them. For now I put them all together in a terracotta pot and I think it looks so pretty. If any of them end up being unhappy I will transfer them to their own pot. Do you think it’s OK to combine different ferns?

Hello all - I am desperately trying to keep my staghorn fern alive and looking for any solutions that may help. I’ve had this plant for many years and it’s made several moves to different houses. I had it sitting in my house near a northern facing window and it was struggling. I assumed from too little light. About 3 weeks ago I moved it to my porch which faces east, and gets about 2 hour of sun a day through tree canopy. I still have large fronds that are falling off, which are yellow and darker brown at the base. Any ideas?!

Hi there! My first fern, a white rabbits foot, is not doing so hot. Watered weekly, nursery pot, fertilized with super diluted liquid 1x/month or so, next to a window but mounted on the ceiling and his leaves are droopy, crunchy and falling off. I’m worried I over fertilized, because there’s no way he’s under-watered…but the fertilizer was super diluted too. Would love your thoughts!

Anyone have much experience with these? Mine is not very expressive haha hasn't shown tons of new obvious growth however comparing with older photos and just seeing how much of the pot it takes up now, I know it's increased in size substantially!

My last day visiting Ott’s exotic plants. Had to choose one last indoor plant to try to fit into my house. I ended up choosing my first fern, a crispy wave. Any tips you can give for a first time fern parent?
