I just received this kangaroo fern from a nursery. Are these roots that are coming out here, and does that mean it needs to be repotted? There are no roots coming out of the bottom drainage holes. But I didn’t want to pull it out of the nursery pot to check the root ball if I don’t need to shock it so soon after it arrived here.
Those look like it's aerial roots. Perfectly normal, does not indicate a need to repot

1 mi piaceThose aren’t roots, but rhizomes! Perfectly normal and even desirable. I would keep an eye on them though, check to make sure they don’t feel mushy or too brittle, they should be just a teeny bit flexible. I say this because they’re usually a light green color, so I’m concerned for rot or chronic dehydration with this one. The leaves look a little droopier/browner than they should.
