I just gently scrubbed the roots with a soft toothbrush under running water in my kitchen sink, to get most of the dirt off. It’s kinda hard to tell, since the roots are naturally dark and dirt colored, lol. Anyway, I cleaned it as best I could, put the leca in the bottom 1/3 of the net pot, then plopped the fern in and filled in around it with more leca. I do try and keep the reservoir 1/2 or even 3/4 full every time I top it off (about once a week usually). I also flush it out with running water every other week or so. And I use Dyna Gro Foliage Pro as my nutrients, plus a little Hydroguard, and a few drops of aquarium water conditioner (I use tap water) in every gallon of water that I mix up for all my plants. MaraSo pretty. It really is a graceful plant. I do love the maiden hair and blue star fern but we didn’t get along. They are like spoiled children for me. Thanks for posting this!

This is the first one I’ve managed to keep alive for more than a month or two, lol! Leca has really been a game changer for me!

DanikaI have been thinking about putting some of my ferns into Pon… semi-hydro just seems to make all the sense for ferns! Glad to see someone else is doing it!
