Just rescued this beauty for £1 from the "reduced to clear" bin of a garden centre (no idea why it was there really!!!). Repotted the poor thing and gave it some support for its stem. So. First time prayer plant keeper here. After researching, I'm now hearing they can be divas sometimes... is this true? 😂 I'd love to hear anyones advice for a novice, so that I can give this abandoned lil dude its best chance at life. Thank you! 🫶 🌱
Hates tap water. Use filtered/distilled/rainwater.

I keep mine in self-watering pots. Only way I can keep them happy. If their leaves are curling, they're thirsty- either need watered or root rot. The edges get crispy from too much sun, not enough humidity, or hard water. They can be divas, but I let self-watering reservoir be dry for a day before I fill it up again and they seem to like it lol

I brought mine from local supermarket with 2 half dried leaves in March. I didn’t even repot her, just left as she was hoping she will survive. She doesn’t like to be fully dried, otherwise the leaves are browning. I use tap water ( got 5 two pint plastic milk bottles filled with water ), add few drops of water softener, a bit of fertiliser and 2 drops of biological mosquito control liquid. That’s it 🤷♀️ she thrives and looks happy
I use tap water with a couple drop of water conditioner/ softener and my prayer plant seems happy. But everyone’s source of water is different. So take advice with a grain of salt, read your water report or get an inexpensive water test. Check a pet store- fish supply for an inexpensive test. The plants do like bright indirect light and humidity to thrive.
