I just brought home a lemon lime maranta… I’m terrified after hearing horror stories. Also the plant store potted it directly in this pot. I’ve been told that’s a no no… should I repot it into a nursery pot asap or will that shock her? Help me… she’s so pretty. Any tips are appreciated!
she will be okay. the concern for directly potting plants in ceramics or clay is when the pot has an abnormal shape or the neck is smaller than the rest of the pot, it's not a problem with the material itself. if the neck is smaller than the normal width of the pot, you're going to have a really hard time getting it out when the roots have filled in. yours looks perfectly safe, no need to repot at all.
1 j'aime Thank you! Even though it’s terracotta? I thought the concern was terracotta tends to absorb and hold moisture within it which can cause you to over water without knowing
1 j'aime terracotta is known for drying out faster because it's porous. that's my experience, at least. i don't think i've ever seen overwatering be caused by a clay pot

As long as there is enough drainage, the pot is fine.

If you don't have drainage holes or saucer, would it be beneficial to add a layer of rocks/gravel in the base so the plants feet son't sit in wet doil?
