How would one propagate a piece of prayer plant? Is it the same as any other hydroponic plant?

    Maranta; Can be propagated by stem cuttings or division, though division is more reliable. Calathea, Ctenanthe, Stromanthe: These don’t have the right kind of nodes to sprout roots from cuttings. Their stems are essentially “leaf stalks,” not rooting stems. That means if you put a Calathea leaf in water, it will just sit there and eventually die. Instead, these plants spread through rhizomes (underground stems). So the only real way to propagate them is by division — splitting an established plant into multiple smaller ones, each with its own root system and growth point.

    I have managed to successfully water propagate two maranta from cuttings bought online

    I haven’t tried water propagation but I have been able to successfully divide the rhizomes of a calathea white fusion and stromanthe triostar.

    hi! currently in the process of propagating two cut stems from my prayer plant! i change out the water very 5 to 6 days, and only use distilled water! started the process on 9/8 and this is what they looked like on 9/23, and they both have grown a little bit more since!
