Hi guys! This is my first post and I’m new to owning indoor plants and one of the first plants I’ve fallen in love with turns out to be a big drama queen!! I love love LOVE the colors of this calathea and have the white fusion calathea on my wishlist to get also. I even found a big ‘calathea hagbergii’ (I think that’s what it is, looks close enough) in public the other day and stopped to admire the color on the leaves and my husband thought I was crazy🤣 Many people mention they can’t keep them alive for longer than a month so I’m hoping I can keep it happy. It has almost opened 2 new leaves (as pictured ) in the week I’ve had it. It is right in front of an east window, I’ve watered it about 7 days apart when completely dry, and mist almost every day because it is by air vent. Also got it on a rock bed to help with humidity. There have been a few spots becoming see through so in thinking I need to move it a little further away from window. Any other tips or tricks for this guy? Also let me know your favorite plants and what I should look into or buy to start building my collection! Thanks for your time love💕🌻🪴

She’s a beauty! Give her distilled water or rain water and your lighting looks great for her. I have a calathea medallion and she’s been happy as long as her soil stays consistently moist or doesn’t fully dry out. Usually the leaves will tell u when it needs some extra love if it is struggling and as long as you listen it’ll come right back to happy

I love calathias too, I wanna get one soon. My recommendation for getting more plant genuses/species is is start getting into monsteras. My biggest tip for a thai constellation, (my fav) is that you need to give it lots of light so it keeps the variegation, which is a fancy way of saying the white/lime green part of the leaves. Happy hunting!
