Hi friends! About a month ago I posted asking for help with my prayer plant in my dorm. The solution I was given was to water my plant with filtered, room temperature water. I’m very happy with how much this has helped my plant! (Many new leaves, much fuller and finally starting to trail!) Although, I now have a gnat problem. I bought sticky traps when I first started seeing them, this has helped immensely! Unfortunately, today was water day and so many gnats few out! Many of them got stuck in the traps, but I’m looking for solutions. If anyone has any gnat killers that they like, I would love some suggestions! Thanks!!🪴🌱

    I’ve heard nematodes work well for fungus gnats. And your plant looks great!

      Thanks for the advice! I have 4 other plants in my dorm and none of them have gnats like this plant does. 3 of them are by the window, too.

      They must like some plants more than others!

    Mosquito bits work well. Bottom watering also helps.

    Someone mentioned putting a layer of decorative grit over the top of the soil also helps - I’m trying it this weekend to see if it helps!

    I need tips on how to keep the tips from getting crispy. I also have some that’s turning yellow and brown.

      This used to happen to my plant when I first got it. I moved it into a less direct area of sun in my room, and I repotted it (lots of brown/yellow leaves and the plant was root bound). It is now doing much much better. This picture is from the day I repotted it. A few people also suggested using filtered room temperature water when watering. My roommate also takes pretty long and hot showers that really add some humidity to the room haha

      Hi! Sorry, it’s been hectic moving out of my dorm AND my childhood house. I didn’t mean to ignore you!! Once I noticed a lot of new leaves coming in, I started chopping off some of the really brown leaves. Some of them I left alone and they cleared up. I want to say this took about a month or two.
