hello, I got this rattlesnake calathea about a month and a half ago and she has been doing very well since then! There were no shoots present when I bought this plant but now two leaf shoots are growing big with many small shoots following along. I can’t get over how good she looks in the first picture! I’m so excited for the new leaves to finally unfurl all the way! My only concern is with the small bottom leaves slowly getting dry and brown before dying off, as seen in the second picture. Why might they be dying? Is there anything I can do to help keep them alive?

    I have this plant too that I got at Trader Joe’s! I assumed it was fake at first! I have thought that those underleaves just aren’t getting as much light. Mine are like that too.

    Mine does the same thing. Once they get too brown for my liking, I just cut them off

    I'd make sure you're watering with rain water if you can. Depending on your location chemicals in the water can brown their leaves.

      I will try to collect rainwater, I do think it’s the minerals in the water causing the browning. Thank you!
