Plant Daddy B

OK, coming here for help. I’m at a loss. I don’t know what to do. I repotted Ricky here about two months ago and he was doing OK. Here lately, he’s been turning brown but as you can see in the pictures below he’s also sprouting off new leaves. I just moved him from outside to inside. I plan on leaving it somewhere close to the window, but no direct light. The soil has been really wet between watering so I don’t know if I should try to repot again and use a different mix of soil or what any help is greatly appreciated. This plant is special to me as it came from my uncle‘s funeral and I really wanted. Do my best to keep it alive. Thank you all for your help in advance!

    What type of soil did you repot Ricky in?

      I used a blend of pete moss, potting soil, and perlite.

    My sister told me that the soil likes to compacted so maybe I should repot and try again but I’m hesitant on moving him since he is growing new leaves

      I have mine in 60% Mother Earth goodswell potting soil, I added extra per light, and a lot of orchid barks for good aeration and water when the top inch and a half to 2 inches are dry and have a lot of drainage holes in the bottom of the nursery pot. Keep all of my plants in nursery pots with many many drainage holes at the bottom. Water with distilled water. When you fertilize, half strength. Fertilizers have salts in them so if you see brown tips that may be from salt buildup from fertilizer or tapwater with chlorine and other things in it. Soil should not be compact. It does not allow the roots to breathe.

    Maybe the pot is too big. I have mine in a smaller terracotta pot and water it once a week. I wait for it to fully dry out before watering. The soil looks too wet.

      Thank you that’s what I’m thinking. I’m gonna look around and see about downgrading it today and changing the soil. Wish me luck lol

      Well, I just repotted him and put him in an 8 inch pot so we’ll see if this fair is better for him
