Hello every one ! I got my calathea medallion over summer in August and she has been doing wonderful until recently. I moved to college and I think the lighting and maybe the atmosphere is making her sick :( I wanted to ask if anyone had advice or could identify points of error ?? I think she might have spider mites but I’m uncertain what action to take (she’s my first plant 😭🙏)
Defs has spider mites. All those white dots in the creases of the leaves are them. I usually “waterboard” (spray the leaves with water, usually in the shower) my plants to physically get the mites off and also wipe the leaves with a paper towel. To kill the mites I use an insecticidal soap or captain jacks dead bug brew. Spray and wipe it once a week for a couple weeks and it should be good

Trying to keep the humidity up and the dust down may help prevent future spider mite infections. When I get spider mite infections, I usually purchase beneficial predatory mites online and they will eat all the bad mites off your plants. It’s less work for me than to spray the plant with chemicals for multiple weeks and my Calathea is very sensitive and the leaves brown when I spray it with alc, soap mix. Also spider mites can spread easily to other plants that you might have so keep the infected plant quarantined while you are treating it.
