Rescued this calathea warscewiczii for £2 back in April. He’s looking so happy now! Can’t get over the transformation! So everyone meet Warit one of my favourite calatheas!

Ahh!! Your ‘before’ is what mine looks like now. I’ve had it about 4 weeks. He’s got curling leaves and had some brown spots even when I got him. Not sure I have the right environment for it but I’m trying. What are your tips to make this guy happy???

Firstly I removed the worst of the sick leaves trying to leave at least half. I then put him under a grow light. After two weeks I repotted Warit into a special calathea soil and also into a self watering pot (from Amazon). I then also added the focus drip feed fertiliser to the pot. I also kept him isolated from other plants in my bathroom door 4 weeks. At that point I didn’t have a humidifier or drip tray so I would leave the bath with water sat in it to create a humid environment. I’d also mist the leaves a couple of times a week Once Warit showed signs of new leaf growth I moved him into my living room with other plants. Here he was placed on a stand with other plants to create a micro climate. I also had a humidifier I would run in an evening and humidity trays for each plant. I also released some predatory mites for thrips, mealy bugs and spider mites just to be safe. Once out of quarantine Warit was watered according to the planta apps suggestions depending on the top level of soils moistness So as you can see I went a bit crazy plant lady 🤣😂🙈

Oh golly gee! I’m not sure I’m prepared for this level of high maintenance! It’s a beautiful plant though! I do take it in the bathroom when I shower a few times a week. And have been spritzing it with a water bottle. I don’t have the best room for light but I do have a grow light that I could give it. I’ll see how it does!! Thank you for your detail and experience!!

A humidity tray and a little cluster of plants will help maintain the humidity. The best thing I did though was the bottom self wafering pots. I think this stopped me from over watering and causing root rot!

I grow mine in pon in a self watering planter, water with distilled water and she’s near a north window. They don’t like too much light. But that’s pretty much all I do for her. 🙂

This is mine, she was doing well but has started drooping and I’m worried, trying to increase humidity 😮💨
