I had one that did this and it was low humidity. But could be a few things underwatering, temperature stress (if large fluctuations) or Water quality (Tap water with chlorine, fluoride, or hard minerals can stress the which leads to curling, brown tips, or crispy edges. I filter my tap water and then leave it to sit over night and mix with distilled water for all my calatheas. I also keep then in small grounds this helps raise humidity with micro climates forming. Also every calathea of mine has a humidity tray now and I mist with the water that has been sat overnight. I then use a self watering plant pot and a moisture meter to keep an eye on the soil as I’ve lost a few to over and under watering!! I’ve also found every calathea is different. I’ve found I always have a few very stressy fussy ones. I then as a result build my groups around them. Each group has one fussy plant in it and no more 🙈 (I have 4 groups of plants - the 4 needy ones are ornata, white fusion, yellow fusion and zebrina)

hahahah yep London water is definitely not helping 😭 that’s perfect, thank you soooo much!!! I’ll give that all a go!!

Shropshire water isn’t much better! I went as far as getting water test strips from Amazon 🙈

MrsTI'm in the UK and I use fish tank dechlorinator in my water, which my prayer plants and spider plant seems to be enjoying. I don't get so many brown tips on them now. ❤️

OpenHandDesignI had to take mine out of soil and put her in a jug of water. I've saved two that way.
