This is my Rattlesnake plant and I wanted to knows why the leaves die so quickly, and why the tips are a little brown. Itā€™s actually not super bad but I want it to be happy šŸ˜Š. It lives in my kitchen (not super humid) I water it whenever it looks like it needs it or feels dry( bottom watering), I transplanted it not too long ago. I put it in the bathroom when I showered today in hopes it will get humidity. It gets direct sunlight for about 2 hours and indirect sunlight after.

    prayer plants are incredibly sensitive to excess minerals and chemical additives in their water. if your tap water is chlorinated i would recommend filtering it and treating with an aquarium water conditioner. filtering the tap water will remove most of the minerals and chemicals and the water conditioner will dissolve any remaining chlorines/chloramines. many will recommend distilled water, but i advise against it as itā€™s very expensive (at $1-2 per gallon, you may end up spending hundreds on just water) and also the most wasteful option. prayer plants also need consistent humidity in order for the leaves to remain healthy. if the household humidity drops under 50% your plant will turn crispy on the edges as it cannot transpire effectively without losing moisture to the air. to prevent crispy tips iā€™d recommend either putting the plant in a greenhouse or getting a humidifier for the room itā€™s in

    The pot seems like it might be too big for the plant. Prayer plants like to be moist so if theyā€™re in a pot thatā€™s too big the roots will dry before the rest of the soil is dry.

      Itā€™s already starting to grow roots out of the bottom, and itā€™s pretty happy with the pot

      Roots growing out of the bottom doesnā€™t mean the pot is the right size. The right size pot should only be 1-2ā€ inches larger than the rootball (with no dirt). My rattlesnake plant is much larger than yours and is in a 5ā€ pot.

    I keep mine right under a grow light and I only water with distilled water
