Any advice for my calathea? Shes got some brown/yellow tips, and is starting to get a bit droopy. Iā€™ve only had her for a couple of weeks now and wasnā€™t in the best condition when I originally got her

    Maybe move her somewhere less sunny. Mine hates direct sunlight and is very picky lol Iā€™ve had a hard time with mine not turning brown & growing full

      Okay! I usually put it in a darker spot just moved it for the picture, but I will keep an eye on how much sunlight itā€™s getting

      Hmm maybe itā€™s upset about the lack of light then? They are SO particular! It took me 6 months to even find a spot my calatheas would grow happily šŸ˜‚ I placed mine on a shelf in a partially sunny area and itā€™s growing out now. Also, make sure to water it with distilled water; apparently they only like that

    calathea appreciate lots of light actually, as long as it isnā€™t too harsh. long stems mean the plant isnā€™t getting enough light. what kind of water are you using for this plant? chlorinated tap water causes symptoms like these. iā€™d recommend filtering and treating your tap water with some aquarium water conditioner, using rainwater, or if you have access, try used fish tank water

      Iā€™ve just been using tap water from the sink, so maybe I could try britta water?

      iā€™d definitely recommend you start using the filtered water instead for now. iā€™d suggest pouring the filtered water into your watering can and adding a drop of aquarium water conditioner (i use api brand) per gallon of water. the pitcher filter will remove a fair amount of minerals and chlorine but typically thereā€™s still some chlorine in the filtered water, which is why i suggest using the water conditionerā€” itā€™ll dissolve any remaining chlorines. once the top 1/2ā€ or so of soil has dried, pour lots and lots of purer water over top and it will help the chlorines and excess minerals in the soil drain away
