I put my maranta in PON 2 weeks ago and it doesn’t look like it’s happy. It has curly leaves a lot of the leaves have turned brown and crispy. Has anyone else transferred their maranta to PON? How is it doing? And did it throw a fit at first? Side note it did get cold here in the PNW.
I don’t know much about PON… is it super porous? From the looks of it, it may not retain enough moisture for the maranta so you may want to ensure it’s not drying out, which would explain the browning/crisp. This is just speculation as I am not familiar with this medium. Mine doesn’t like to dry out and loves humidity. 👍🏼🌿
0개 좋아요 There is a water reservoir at the bottom of the fancy pot. I check it every day to see if it has dried up and it hasn’t. The PON does have perlite in it so it does retain water. Maybe I will just switch it back to soil. It was much happier in soil. Thanks for the advice!
0개 좋아요I have a humidifier next to mine. The only time it has gotten crispy was when the humidifier was empty and I wasn’t able to refill it for several days. I’m in Ohio.

I think I potted it in too big of a pot and it didn’t like it. I ended up just potting it back in soil. I found some of the rhizomes were wrinkly when I took it out of the semi hydro. I will figure it out eventually.
