Is this enough light for my rattlesnake calathea? It's in a north facing window and I'd hate for it to revert/fade (do they do that?)

KiraIdk if this is helpful, but I have east facing windows (they’re huge, with no trees shading light coming in) and mine burned. Calatheas are from South America and are used to high humidity and a lot of shade from the forest canopies

Plant Fatheri have some prayer plants thriving in northern exposure, mine are a few feet back from the window though as i have other plants that prefer the brighter light right in the window

Lucy FrüIt should definitely be enough and I second those other comments, calatheas are “shade plants” so they thrive in indirect sunlight, and don’t need a ton of super bright light. The best way you can tell if your plant buddy is happy, is if he’s praying: leaves lifted straight up at night, laying mostly flat during the daytime. As long as he’s praying, it means he’s happy and healthy.

smashasaurI liked reading these comments too! I bought a rattlesnake plant because it’s SO PRETTY and then I got it home and learned it might be kind of fussy lol. So far mine is doing great being like six feet from a giant East-facing window. I mist ir once or twice a day and keep a close eye on the soil because it likes steady moisture. And it’s fuuuuuuun to watch the leaves move every day!!

Rattlesnake plants are definitely the troopers of the calathea world! Rest assured that you **can** let him dry out a touch between watering watering, just don’t leave him thirsty for too long.
