I am new to this group- I have had some prayer plants that have done well and others that are dying and have three leaves. I am wondering if people have any general tips that can be shared to help that are general. For example… I don’t know what everyone are talking about with crispy leaves- do I trim those brown spots on the leaves? I have some in water pots which seem to be working a bit but is that a bad idea? Thank you so much!
i have a calathea ornata, she is also very temperamental. calatheas naturally get brown spots, i do trim mine, im not sure if it helps the plant but it doesn’t hurt (as far as i know) distilled water is really important for the foliage and keeps it nicer for longer. I don’t usually snip the leaves completely until it’s completely wilted down to the bottom of the stem so it doesn’t put the plant into shock for removing too many leaves too fast. hope this helps :)

I agree with Emma. Distilled water, not too much light and they are sensitive to any additives. Mine seems fine with Superthrive. Hates pest control (spraying leaves) so I just do a sink shower every month or so. I find they liked to be left alone. Once you get the light right, they do well on their own. I definitely felt accomplished once I was able to keep mine happy and am thinking about getting another one 😁
