Hello! Yesterday I bought this calathea I believe and it was in a bowl of water, some leaves look weird. I’m new to the plant community so I don’t know what it could be. If someone could help me out I would greatly appreciate it!!!

Plant Fatherthis is a ctenanthe setosa, like many members of the marantaceae family they are very sensitive to hard water and chlorine, and will lose portions of their leaves during transpiration if the air is too dry. if the humidity in your home is consistently under 50% i’d recommend getting a humidifier to keep this one happy

NicoleJust an FYI on ctenanthe setosa- they sunburn easily. I can’t tell exactly, but looks like that’s a window with a curtain? If you open the curtain with the plant that close she may burn. Mine somehow sunburned THROUGH the curtains when it was smashed up to the curtain. But every house/light is different so just see what works for you. Also, many people water these guys with distilled, reverse osmosis, or rain water. I personally use tap because I have a water softener, but I’m sure she would prefer distilled (sorry plant, I see those crispy tips haha).
