Recently just got Tia, my aralia ivy and my cat has an obsession with her. I usually keep my plant room door closed because he likes to start fights with all of them cause they took his spot in the windowsill, but we had a guest last night and he didn’t know to keep the door closed. This is the aftermath. I’m not sure if my cat ate any, but I do know they are toxic to cats. He had been acting like he got ahold of some catnip, but he’s an orange cat so he acts like that most of the time... I’m also not sure on what to do about the Tia. I repotted her in some seed starter (was in nursery soil before) and I haven’t watered her yet. I attached a picture of her before I repotted her the first time, and now the aftermath of my kitty. Any help is appreciated!!

    Firstly, your post is low-key hilarious. I understand the orange cat pain, and I also understand cats starting fights with plants... I have the same problem. One of mine just peed in my night-blooming cereus, which is huge, so it's gonna be a whole project to repot. Anyway... Toxicity is a range from "mild irritation" to "time to call the emergency vet," so I'd start by looking into that-- then, if at all possible, move your keyboard. Don't give him anything he can stand on to fight with plants. In addition, I use "tactical clutter": If a plant is on a surface my cats can get to (and they've shown interest, which has fortunately decreased in frequency as time goes on), I make it un-jump-able by crowding it with other plants and decorative objects. And sometimes random crap. I can't help with the plant side, unfortunately, but I hope this helps with the cat side!
