My dragon Figgy needs a sturdy tree he can chill on I'm considering rubber trees or banana trees I don't know what fruit trees have gritty enough bark for him not to slide off 😩🤔🦎 over here preparing his garden for spring any ideas would be appreciated 💕🙏🏵️
Unfortunately I think you'd be hard pressed to find anything that will A: support an adult beardie and 2: not be toxic if eaten, most fruit trees are toxic to pets depending on whats ingested. A banana would have to be quite large, and its a straight up trunk into herbaceous leaves that Figgy would eat or tear from his weight. Some rubber trees are toxic, but then you'd also need to find one large enough, though i know a few nursery that carry good sized ones. Ypu may want to find some logs pr drift wood he can hang out on, and then plant some edible things like herbs and dandelions.
2 Likes I was incorrect, apparently a lot of the fruit tree leaf sap toxins is just towards the furry pets. But probably still wouldnt want them munching on a lot of them. Some just losted the Fruit wood being safe, which i have used in enclosures before, but not much on the leaves or sap. This had some really good suggestions

It looks like Maple or Oak are good tree options. I wonder if you could get a sapling and kinda bonsai it, so the trunk made a perch?
1 Like Yes I am going to make him a little a garden in a kiddie pool when it gets a little warmer out I'm going to have it be all organic wheatgrass for the main substrate and for sure probably like a hibiscus tree hopefully in bloom and a rosemary bush and for sure dandelion probably a bunch of verbs like maybe lemon basil and what not maybe throw a couple parlor palms out there definitely half tons of walnut trees and other kinds of trees at our disposal so lots of have a good size branches, and then I want another kidding pool but he can float around on a pink flamingo floaty if he wants to chill in the swim around while I garden LOL thank you for your input I guess I got the idea of the banana tree because I saw somebody in my bearded dragon group that had their beardy in a massive banana tree outside where they lived FLORIDA of course yeah I live in Indiana so not even the same
2 Likes That sounds so awesome! Hey I live in WA state and have like 7 bananas lol they're just indoor trees. Oohh so I bought these pink Dandelion seeds from Baker creek heirloom seeds. It's a different species to 'regular' Dandelions, so you'd probably have to look if they are toxic. But that'd be cute
Says they are edible as well. And less bitter
Oh that is so cool I love it yeah I have a prickly pear and I made sure it was the rare pink flower I love it I have lost a couple of the dwarf Jade plants in his vivarium, it's mostly bioactive but not all the way, I took the ogre ear out BC I didn't want to lose that one too they do need to get a fatter regular Jade tho, I can't even get him to eat his greens most of the time he's really not munching plants it's what I had fake plants in his tank he would take a bite just because he knew I didn't want him to do if he was in a mood trying to get a reaction from me LOL the only thing that it was really lived in his tank was the prickly pear and the snake plants, and my baby red Earth star, I lost a parlor Palm in there and almost lost my mistletoe cactus and some cinnamon starburst echeverias, I guess it's rough in there LOL I did pick up a I want to see it's probably 3 ft tall ficus elastica Timike rubber tree today, and for sure he would tear it up, matter of fact he gets mad sometimes and nose dives and tears up his snake plants I've repotted them I don't know how many times I can't believe how resilient they are sometimes I just stick the leaf back in the dirt, no roots or anything and it lives
0 Likes Oh geez. Desert is hard enough to get bioactive! Without them tearing it up. The only bioactive desert I've kept that actually looked good were the Heteronotia binoei tank. And the Sandfish. I refused to try with bearded after 2 disasters. But most of the reptiles i kept when I was breeding and doing expo's were tropical.
