I recently bought my first indoor plant, a prayer plant (I have other outdoor plants). Unfortunately, my lil friend here enjoys puncturing the leaves at every moment and has zero control over himself (looking into solutions to meet his insatiable need for salad). He didn’t ingest much and it’s my understanding they are nontoxic, but what do I do about my currently-Swiss-cheesed prayer plant leaves? There are lots of fairly small holes and tears. Do I cut them off or leave it alone? I have it removed from cat access in a part-sun window sill and it is watered. It still has leaves that are intact. Thanks for any help!!

    My cat chewed one of my maranta’s leaves in half. Plant didn’t seem to mind. He bit a few others and the plant just scarred the leaf around the bites. If the leaf starts dying I would cut it otherwise leave it cause the plant will still use it to photosynthesize.

    get a pack of plastic forks. break the handle off just enough to put them in the soil, or don’t break the handle off and forks will be higher. This is will start a training for your kitty bcz who wants a fork in the eye lol

    I bought my grey menace her own oat “cat grass” and that seems to have done the trick! She has killed 2 of my prayer plants previously;)

    I understand. With about 30 house plants and 3 cats it’s a real issue. I recently got a Prayer Plant. My male cat is the only one who stays upstairs at night while his sisters sleep in their huge basement play room. He has never been the one to chew on my plants but he couldn’t resist the tender leaves on this one. After having no success with my usual methods I took one chewed leaf, wet it and sprinkled red pepper on it. The plant sits on a corner and I inserted the leaf in the area he goes for. One sniff and he has never touched it again. After he sniffed it I immediately washed his face well with a warm rag. He sneezed a few times but was otherwise alright. I’m truly not a mean person. I love my cats & dogs more than most people. It’s a drastic measure but cats are extremely intelligent and learn quickly. Best of luck to you!
