Wanna be a Plant Gir
Can I get an opinion on if I need to get rid of my monstera plant. I just got a kitten and have read that these are mildly toxic to cats. Are there any safe and gentle ways to train the cat to not eat the plant?

drabbit4uI have monsteras and cats and it’s been fine. The only plants my cats ever show any interest in are ones with feathery leaves like palms and ferns. They just want to play with them but I’ve never seen my cats act like they want to eat my plants. Mine are older though, so I can’t really speak to how a kitten would do.

harperi second this! ⬆️ it totally depends on the cat, if they're a chewer you can use cinnamon on top of the soil, spray the plant with a deterrent, put drops of citrus or peppermint essential oil (which is stinky to them), buy cat grass or move it higher up. my kitten had an issue with peeing in my fiddle leaf fig's soil, so we put aluminum foil on top until she lost an interest. congrats on your kitty!
