Hello! I apologize this isn’t plant related, but I need some help. I am just a few weeks away from picking up a new toy poodle puppy, yet I have no idea what kibble to get him. I’ve read all sorts of forums, and it seems as though no one can agree on a singular brand. He will definitely be a smaller dog, so I am not entirely worried about price, although I am not looking to spend $100+ a month on pet food. Thank you so much for the help! Here is a photo of the puppy, ‘Dunkin’.
Have you picked a vet to take it to? You can ask them for what they recommend. I recently inherited a dog, so pet food became a learning curve. I’m trying to pick a new one for my dog myself. Hope this helps!
We have not picked out a vet yet, but most likely will soon. We will definitely see what they said, and go from there. Thank you so much for the help!

Make sure you get a food with the WSAVA label. These are veterinary approved foods such as science diet, Royal Canin, purina Pro Plan, etc. make sure you get a puppy food and follow feeding instructions on the bag. Congratulations

0 likes The most important thing for puppies is having them on a puppy food and consistent feeding schedule throughout the day. Little dogs and especially puppies need a lot of nutrients to grow (much like baby plants lol). Little dogs specifically are at risk for hypoglycemia or low blood sugar as their digestive tracts are so small that nutrients are absorbed and spent quickly. Personally, we tried many foods for our mini dachshund that were vet recommended. The ones you really want to avoid are those raw diets like the farmersdog or wefeedraw which your vet may also tell you. While the concept is great, the processing and bacteria can cause a lot of bacterial issues with your pet that can be expensive to treat. We use sciencediet and notice a healthy gut, softer fur and overall a healthier shape in his body. It’s also not too expensive and they make a puppy specific kibble that you can use up to a year old in age. Ultimately, what works for you, your vet and, above all, your pet will come to you.
