Hello I have 2 lovely kitties and I have spider plants one in my living room and my friend has one in his room my male cat leaves my plants alone but his sister loves to hallucinate off the spider plants. What can I do to stop her. Her health comes first so if I have to gift mine away I will but I’d like to try and stop her first.
Your cat is soooo cute!!!💗 Luckly, Spider plants are not toxic to cats so it won't harm your cat even if she nibbles on it and eat some. I personally find it impossible to stop cats nibbling on certain plants unless 1. The plant is completely out of cat's reach (high place that cat can't jump, hanging pot...) 2. The cat loses interest in it...... Put the plant out of reach, maybe try and steer her attention away from the spider plant by growing cat grass at home(found on Pet stores, amazon, chewy, etc). My cats killed my two large Pachira trees(nontoxic), my table palm(nontoxic) and numerous other nontoxic Calatheas. 🌿🥹 part of me thinks as long as they have fun and it's not harmful for them, not puking it back up, I'm ok with some plant damages.....
My cats do the same, it makes it rather difficult to be a cat and a plant owner. Someone suggested to me to try using cayenne pepper around the plant. I can’t imagine what they’d think if they sniff or lick it but i’d also imagine it’d be pretty effective 😂. I haven’t tried it as most of my plants are outside right now.
1 likeI’ve also read citrus sprays and other strong smelling herbs can deter them. clove etc. Not sure if this would have an effects on the plants though

I have a post in this group showing my solution - to put a plant cage over my plants 😹 doesn’t stop a nibble here or there, but keeps it manageable instead of destroying the plant
You can try to put cat grass beside it or definitely just put in a hanging basket/high shelf
